If your dept. has a lot of various, perhaps unique, info regarding overtime, special assignments, and time-off types (perhaps multiple payroll software codes?). You can add additional custom fields to shift item profiles. These are called Custom Special Type Attributes.

These custom fields are currently only available for use with your Custom Export. Once you update the Overtime, Special Assignment, or Time-off type with these codes, you can use these codes to identify which Special Type was taken during a given month. (i.e., an officer had overtime that needs to be tracked because this detail gets paid out by the outside company, not the department).

Create Custom Special Type Attribute

Go here (Admin Tab -> Settings -> Site Settings).

The second option listed on the page you arrive at is Custom Special Type Attributes, with a link that says MODIFY. Click this link to create a Special Type Attribute.

This new page will likely be blank for you right now as we don't have any custom fields yet, but as we add them, they will be listed here.

Click the blue + Create Custom Special Type Attribute button to create a new field.

Now, you have to name the field you want to add. In this example, I needed a Special Payroll #. Next, select an attribute type, either plain text input or a selectable date. We will stick with text to input the Special Payroll # to track this Special Type. When you have chosen these, click the blue Save button.

Now go to Admin> Special Types & Designations > Overtime Types.

Select the Edit option for any overtime type you wish to verify this change has been made on. In my example, I am checking a Soccer Game Security overtime and adding a Special Payroll code to ensure officers get paid from this outside company. This field differs from the Code field your department uses to track overtime. However, it can also be used but is not recommended.

Note: For this to appear on your custom export, you must let us know that you have added these Special Attributes. If you do not let us know, they will not be shown when you go to export.

That's it! All Overtime Types, Special Assignments, and Time-off types will now have this additional field in their profiles that you can fill out for each. You can add additional fields as you see fit.
