Issue with Shift Minimums and Group Selection

When creating extra shifts in the PACE scheduling system, a group must be selected. After awarding the shift, the user needs to manually correct each awarded shift by deselecting the group. This step ensures that the shift counts towards minimum staffing for other groups.

System Behavior

  1. Selecting a Group for Extra Shifts: The system requires a group to be selected when inputting extra shifts.

  2. Manual Correction After Awarding Shift: Once the shift is awarded, the minimums do not correct automatically because a group is selected. The user has to manually deselect the group for each awarded shift to ensure it counts towards minimum staffing for other groups.

Reason for the Behavior

The system requires a group to be selected when creating extra shifts because the extra shifts need to be assigned to a specific group initially. After awarding the shift, deselecting the group allows the shift to count towards minimum staffing for groups outside the initially selected group.

Alternative Option: "Force Include all eligible"

The system provides an option called "Force Include all eligible" which can be used. However, using this option might severely impact the numbers of your minimum staffing shown.

Conclusion

There is no setting available to change the behavior of manually deselecting the group after awarding a shift. The system is functioning as expected, and the manual correction is necessary to ensure proper handling of shift minimums across groups.
